The ruins of the ancient city of Sillyon, located near Antalya, constitute an important proof that one should not delay visiting the historical monuments. You never know if in a few years they will still exist, undamaged by the passage of time. In the case of Sillyon, the serious damage to ancient buildings was caused by a landslide in 1969. The preserved remains of the city are located on a hill rising to a height of 210 meters above the alluvial plain formed by the river Aksu, in ancient times known as Kestros. Even from a distance, you can see the outlines of fortifications, which could not by conquered even by Alexander the Great.
The ancient site of Limyra lies 6 km inland from the sea. Limyra (gr. Λιμύρα) was a small city in Lycia, on the Limyrus River. It was a prosperous settlement, and one of the oldest cities in the region of Lycia.
Arykanda is an ancient city built on mountain terraces at an altitude of 1000 m. near the village of Aykiriçay. This beautiful and remote site is extensive, rising up several terraces built into the rock face.
